Mission & Objectives
Mission
The mission of W.O. Parmer Elementary School Library Media Center is to provide a
safe, positive, and inviting learning environment. It is our goal that all students, faculty,
and staff feel included, informed, and inspired to read, discover, and unlock a world that
is full of possibilities.
Objectives
1. To Promote Information Literacy: Teach students how to locate, evaluate, and use
information effectively, emphasizing critical thinking.
2. To Enhance Curriculum Support: Collaborate with teachers to integrate media
resources into the curriculum, supporting diverse learning styles and enhancing student
engagement.
3. To Foster a Love for Reading: Encourage a reading culture through programs, book
clubs, and literacy events that engage students and promote lifelong reading habits.
4. To Provide Access to Resources: Ensure equitable access to a wide range of media
and technology resources.
5. To Develop Digital Citizenship: Educate students on responsible and ethical use of
information and technology, preparing them to navigate the digital world safely and
responsibly.
6. To Encourage Collaboration: Facilitate partnerships with local libraries and other
community organizations to expand resources and learning opportunities for students
and educators.
7. To Evaluate and Adapt Services: Regularly assess the effectiveness of media services
and resources to adapt to the changing needs of students and educators.
8. To Stay Current with Trends: Keep up with emerging technologies and trends in
education to provide relevant resources and training for both students and staff.
